SuperRookie’s promoting a cross race? That’s news. Should I call your tip line?
Posted 16 Oct 2007 at 3:29 pm ¶Funny thing about that is Rookie took exception to the fact that I said he was promoting a cross race but he didn’t clean it up when we were live.
Posted 16 Oct 2007 at 3:32 pm ¶you have to finish the race to get your cry points…
Posted 16 Oct 2007 at 4:02 pm ¶Starting the women late increases their chances of getting lapped by the leaders, they did that at rockford. bad idea…
kyia malenkovich races occasionally and usually kicks ass…
Posted 16 Oct 2007 at 4:04 pm ¶Yo. Can you guys maybe edit the audio volume so that it’s the same throughout? The two of you talking was way quieter than the clips from the race. I was listening to it with headphones on and suddenly my ears starting bleeding. It kind of sucked. Thanks.
P.S. With a comment about the volume being my only complaint, it goes without saying that I’m digging the podcast. Good on you dudes!
Posted 16 Oct 2007 at 4:29 pm ¶Seth, your wish is my command. I will make sure the next episode has consistent volume throughout. We aim to please here at BikeThrow.com!
Posted 16 Oct 2007 at 4:36 pm ¶Thanks, Homme. In other news, here’s a Crater bio from his coaching site: http://www.cratercoaching.com/about.php. Not Monex, but some other pro team. I might have told Rookie Monex once, but that may not have been right.
Plus, not to rag on Bergman or GP or anything—I’m glad he came clean after his incident on JellyBelly and he seems to be a cool, genuine guy these days, especially when I raced against him at Superweek—but, for the sake of fairness in reporting, it would be worth noting that his involvement in GP doesn’t exactly keep that team free of previous dirt in either.
Posted 16 Oct 2007 at 4:39 pm ¶Hmmmmm, the irony is thick here on bikethrow.com.
Posted 16 Oct 2007 at 4:49 pm ¶Thanks for the correction about Monex. It was Ofoto-Lombardi that Crater raced for.
Oh. The volume is Homme’s problem!
Posted 16 Oct 2007 at 4:51 pm ¶Yeah, starting the women late does increase their chances of getting lapped, but what does that matter to the guys since the lead women will still pass 20 people in the back of the men’s field? I’m not sure of the best solution, but I really think it should be up to the gals racing.
Posted 16 Oct 2007 at 7:33 pm ¶When I sit by my computer and listen to Bike Throw I feel like Ralphie from A Christmas Story. Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.
Posted 16 Oct 2007 at 7:50 pm ¶I wouldn’t be so hard on GP. The way I see it, they treat their riders almost like family. If you got in big trouble, would your parents dis-own you? Unless you hurt someone else, I don’t see Mom and Dad kicking you out on the street. I respect the team management/shop for keeping Adam around, even though it took a while for him to change.
In the short amount of time I spent racing at GP, I had nothing but great support from the shop, all the club members, sponsors, as well as the other Elite guys. And yes it was very clean. You really can’t ask for much more at an amateur level.
I know I can sound like a hypocrite, considering my strong words against Dopers, but sometimes you need to be optimistic and hope for change. Since we fight so hard to clean up cycling, we need to embrace the changes.
Posted 16 Oct 2007 at 9:57 pm ¶hmmmmm. the bike wasn’t in the wheel pit?
Posted 16 Oct 2007 at 11:18 pm ¶D/Q? Aric and I went threw this last year and both were D/Q’d that would make Grandstay the cup winner, correct? Tomarro’s conterversy.
Kyia ROCKS you guys should know about one of Mn best I’d think, with the quality of journalist ya are.
Gavic-
I understand where you are coming from and I also agree with you that GP is a fantastic place and I think that they are on the right track with the likes of Cole House and the rest of their ‘youth movement.’
I believe that your comments were more directed at the conversation within the comment section and not the actual podcast, which just reported the news.
We try to keep our blatant opinions out of the podcasts, unless we label it as such.
Posted 17 Oct 2007 at 10:53 am ¶you are correct.. I was making a comment about seths comment. oops.
Posted 17 Oct 2007 at 11:12 am ¶As chief intern I recommend we not put a microphone in front of Redmond and his foul f-ing mouth.
Posted 17 Oct 2007 at 11:14 am ¶Right on, Gav-man. I’m with you, dude. I just thought—with fairness in mind—that that should be mentioned along with the coverage of GP given in the week’s podcast relative to Wheel&Sprocket. Bottom line, though: Yeah, stay clean, be positive, promote clean racing!
Posted 17 Oct 2007 at 9:24 pm ¶I kind of love the mailbag sound fx.
Posted 18 Oct 2007 at 11:21 am ¶Pie in the Sky and Pigs fly.
