One of our goals at BTDC is to celebrate the rich history of Minnesota Cycling. We feel that a detailed archive is paramount to the foundation of any competitive cycling community. Therefore, we are implementing a “State Championships Archive.” The “Men’s State Road Champions” is the first part in this series.
The challenge we face compiling this archive, is that much of the history is spoken word and not hard documentation which has been lost or gotten laced with factual inaccuracies. We view this series as a living, breathing production which will only grow over time. Our aim is twofold, first we would like to maintain a list of winners, and secondly, bring back the stories that made up those races. If you have any stories for any of these years, post them to the comments or send us an e-mail at “bikethrow at gmail dot com”.
Also, please help us fill in the blanks or correct any inaccuracies. As previously stated, we do not view this as the final, ready to carve in stone list, but just our opening attempts at capturing this information. We are working on the initial Women’s State Road Champions list too, please let us know if you have any information regarding the State Champions of Minnesota Cycling.
