Who’s Who of Local Elite Men…plus some tips!

You heard it here first!

Brandon Gavic is joining Flanders Brothers (MBRC) for the 2008 season.

Gavic spent this past season racing for Abercrombie & Fitch based out of Ohio. Over the course of the season Gavic was in contention to win the “best young rider” competition for the USA Crits series before being sidelined with a broken collarbone sustained at Superweek. Gavic is planning on doing an almost full MCF calendar and continuing his work with an inner-city Milwaukee bicycling league that he is working hard on getting off the ground.

David Hackworthy was recently announced to have joined the Grand Performance squad on team captain Pete Hanna’s blog. Hackworthy, you may remember, quickly moved through the ranks of the local Cyclocross scene before joining fellow Hudson, Wisconsin resident, Bjorn Selander, at Cyclocross Nationals where he finished in 7th place. Hackworthy spent last season racing for IS Corp out of Wisconsin. He joins Cole House as the new recruits for Grand Performance.

Perhaps the biggest rumor, yet to be confirmed, is that Adam Bergman (whom is not listed on the Grand Performance roster) will be racing for Texas Roadhouse. Texas Roadhouse is often considered one of the stronger regional teams in the domestic peleton. The team features Kirk Albers, and multi-time National Champion Curt Tolson.

Bergman has yet to respond to these rumors, but it seems to be the word on the street.

Cole stayed at our house during the 2007 Nature Valley race. He and Matt Brandt were gluing sewups on our front porch at midnight the night before the St. Paul crit. I think they even raced on them. I don’t know if this was a case where ignorance is bliss, but I sure wouldn’t be racing on freshly glued tires.

Cole won the WI state road race in 2007. Matt was second.
