This past Sunday I ventured out to the Bike Swap at the National Sports Center with the tape recorder in hand. The best part about the swap is that it is one of only the few times all year where most of the local cyclists are gathered in the same area with out the spectacle of a race going on in the background. In the course of an hour I was able to score interviews with a lot of the players of the Minnesota cycling scene and learn a lot about some upcoming events and the 2008 year.
The first interview is over 45minutes of hard hitting action with the likes of Ian Stanford (Grandstay), Brandon Gavic (Flanders), Doug and Dan Swanson (Grandstay). These four riders dish out the dirt like nobody’s business and tell the world who should be racing in the NVGP, who should buy their stuff, who gets dropped at Durand and bunch of other Cat1 gossip. You will want to listen to this one!
The second interview is with Jim Bruul and FPA from the new Circo Azzuri team. They let us know about the blue kits and what their goals are for the 2008 season. They claim to be the peoples team, and at times even threaten to beat me up! Good stuff!
We are then graced with the presence of the Category 6 Racing Squad for a few minutes who tell us some minor details about the State Fair Criterium, before cutting the interview short (in their own best interest), because of some needed sales to actually afford to put on the event. At the tail end of this segment we get to talk with Cam Schmitz (Flanders).
Next is a “roundtable” discussion with Kevin Schaeffer (Loon State), Elana Dorr (University of Minnesota), Dave Grey (Flanders), Joe Johnson and Linsey Hamilton (Grumpy’s/LGR). In this section we talk about the NSC Cup and Velodrama! All types of goodies laced into this interview.
Finally, the one everyone must listen too! This is an opportunity to hear from the man himself, Bob Williams! Bob is a legend, and when you hear him wheeling and dealing in the first 30seconds of this segment you will know why.

I forgot to add that Gavic answers to the critics about his Oxbow win last year over Hareland at 9.20.
Swansons show up around 13min.
GS Circo Azzuri at 23.30 (they threaten violence upon me-joy).
Cat6 at 30min with a little bit of Cam Schmitz of Flanders.
Track Excitement at 35min (Skibby sez that James Tainter can’t lift!).
Bob Williams at about 40min.
Posted 11 Feb 2008 at 5:56 pm ¶jeez 40 min, maby 20-25 is the best length for these.

Jim Grell is my buddy at the table (not Bruul-whoever that is). He is the dishwasher at the Modern Cafe in NE. You should go eat there, make him wash your plates. See, you order a lot of food, eat some, then spread it around your plate, make a mess and then have Jim wash it.
Its killer.

Posted 13 Feb 2008 at 1:09 pm ¶first of all, rookie, you interview like matt lauer on angel dust. if you ask a question, you should allow your interviewee to answer it before you interrupt them with self serving spew that constantly flows out your lips. why do you need to involve other people when all you want to do is talk about yourself?
second of all, asking guys who are going to be in the running for the mn locals team for the nvgp is like letting the wolves loose in the hen house. it’s a conflict of interest.
thirdly, any local team that thinks they’ve earned an invite to the nvgp is also on angel dust. consider the ‘mn locals’ team to be a gift, because dave laporte doesn’t need local riders. doug s. is one of a select handful of local riders who has ever made a dent in that race…. it’s a pretty short list. him, and theresa. more or less, everyone else is fill and you’re joking yourself if you really believe otherwise.
fourthly, you’d have about eighty times more credibility if you took the time to check:
- name spellings
- names of wisconsin towns
- and tried going on a training ride once a decade

But why so many people have to be so seething just because I’d like you to know I exist and I’m coming back home to MN this summer…I just don’t understand that.
Posted 15 Feb 2008 at 9:40 am ¶Seth, It’s just backlash from you tooting your own horn way too much. Lesson learned yet?

Thanks for listening.
Love,
Super Rookie
P.S. Thanks for the advice on how to obtain more credibility. If you don’t mind I would like to share some for yourself; don’t be such a coward and not sign your name. It lacks a ton of credibility.
Posted 15 Feb 2008 at 1:46 pm ¶How did Seth get into this?
Posted 15 Feb 2008 at 2:39 pm ¶Hmmm, exactly who is Super Rookie, is that a real name?
What about Skibby? Tone? Ray? Monty P? Rich?
All but Skibby are anonymous to me.
Where do I sign up to be a cool kid so I can unlock the secret code name vault?
