Gleuk RR - Marty, MN - It was all blue skies for this year’s edition of the Gluek Road Race presented by Grandstay and Loon State Cyclists but the winds were the real story.  For the second consecutive weekend, racers battled stiff winds that splintered fields.

Being the first race in the Nature Valley Grand Prix Qualification Race Series, all eyes were focused on the Men’s 1/2 race.  Doug Swanson (Grandstay) and Tim Mulrooney (Synergy) were in an early break but were caught by the field with one lap to go.  At the finish, Eric Marcotte (SPBRC/GP) took the victory when he outkicked Swanson for the win.

Powered by Swanson’s  second place, Grandstay takes the team lead in the QRS with 332 points, followed by SPBRC/GP with 325 points, and MBRC/Flanders with 150 points.  The top two teams based on accumulated points will be allowed to enter a four-member team into the 2008 NVGP.  The two remaining events in the QRS are the Black Dog Time Trial on May 21st and the State Fair Criterium on June 3rd.  Full QRS series rankings here.
