The State Time Trial Championships are this weekend in St. Peter, Minnesota.
A quick glance of the pre-registration list shows notable riders; Gordy Paulsen (Planet Bike), Tim Mulrooney (Synergy), Ian Stanford (Grandstay) taking to the line for the men’s title. The women’s field has Laura Krueger (Birchwood) fresh off a strong second place finish at the Duluth Classic and a huge night at the Fairgrounds Crit taking to the line with Lori Jug of Team Kenda Tire. No word yet on if Teresa Moriarty (Flanders), or any of her teammates will be making the trip.
Speaking of Teresa, the Flanders rider was recently featured in the St. Paul Pioneer Press along with her Flanders teammates. In the feature Teresa is quoted as stating one of her major season goals as, “…a triple crown of State titles in time trial, road race, and criterium.” One would have to assume that she is planning on showing up this Saturday. The Pioneer Press article is available here.
Rumor has it that Tim Mulrooney is going to be riding a bike with a 650cm front wheel and a 54×14 fixed set up. He doesn’t anticipate to win the race, nor be eligible for the title, but he is hoping for a personal best time on the course of 40k.

The Minnesota Fixed Gear Classic is this Saturday and Sunday with a rain date on Monday. It has been brought to our attention that there is a “Wrong Side of the Track” party being sponsored by local cycling celebrities, Tim Mulrooney and Jay Henderson on the backstretch during the event on Saturday. If this isn’t a reason to go to the big track race, we don’t know what is. Timmer has also challenged the time trial specialists to attend the festivities after completing the State TT in the morning.

Working downtown next week? Turns out that the Jelly Belly Cycling Team is having an autograph session next Tuesday afternoon inside the skyway system. They will be at Amy’s Classic Confections in the 6 Quebec building on the corner of 6th and Marquette. Here is a photograph of the flyer:

See if you can beat Darrin Homme to be the first person in line for an autograph from Brad Huff and Company. BTDC would also like to recommend a visit to the Zen Box across the hall for lunch (although it is Taco Tuesday and $.59 tacos are hard to beat down at Taco John’s).
…
Finally, if you plan on seeing Matt “Little Guy” Allen on the streets of downtown over the upcoming week (*hint he is now riding a mtn bike) you will be out of luck. Matt won free airfare and lodging for the 2008 Cycle Messenger World Championships in Toronto. Allen is excited about the opportunity and is hoping to do well in the race, despite his lack of interest in the competition.
We wish him all the best and hope that he does well.

Posted 06 Jun 2008 at 7:36 pm ¶I could be wrong, but I don’t think Texas Roadhouse is racing in the NVGP. Bergman is on the start list for the FGC…
Posted 06 Jun 2008 at 11:54 pm ¶Skibby, You’re never wrong. It’s my understanding that the Texas Roadhouse team applied for the NVGP with only 3 riders on their roster. I believe they will not be participating.
Posted 07 Jun 2008 at 9:39 am ¶Texas Roadhouse is not in the NVGP. I forgot Bergman wasn’t with SPBRC anymore.
Posted 08 Jun 2008 at 8:56 am ¶bergman is compositing with Trek/HRRC (Steve Tilford’s team)
