Lemond and Flanders
Greg Lemond and Jim Flanders in the Hopkins Criterium circa 1977.

Rookie heroically pulls himself out of bed to stir the podcast pot and calls Timmer a McF’er.  Something for everyone in this one.  Homme, Hayes, and Frye recap the Northfield Criterium and the Hamel TT, preview the Hopkins Criterium, Chip Timing trial at the Summit/Hollywood Criterium, track racing, race schedule, race categories, WWHD (What Would Homme Do), Sprinter’s Classic, Tour of Granite Country Stage Race, and on and on and on it goes.

When ya have a good event Racers will show, thats why I have a problem with a late fee at races, because there scared there won’t be enogh racers. If ya have a good Race the racers will come. Look at Hopkins, it just happens cause its a good race!

The picture is from the Kenwood Criterium around Kenwood Park circa 1980.
Although the Hopkins (Raspberry Fest) Criterium is a great race with a great history Greg never raced there.
Thanks for posting the picture though!

A few thoughts just came into my head.

    1) Homme just got schooled by the legendary Jim Flanders.

    2) Jim Flanders reads bikethrow.com

    3) We have reached the pinnacle.

    Thanks for reading Jim!

So I asked Greg LeMond if he reads Bikethrow.com yesterday. Unfortunately, he’d never heard of it.

But he asked me about it, so now he definitely knows the address of bikethrow dot com.

And yes, it was awesome. He had lots of stories about when he went he first went to Europe, and lots of stories in general.
