Announcing season-long team series competition to decide the best Minnesota cyclocross team

After much CRYing, Grumpy’s/LGR and Crossniacs, sat down and put together the end all be all competition to decide the best of the best. After hours and hours of contract negotiations, TIME SPORT USA and SmithersMpls.com stepped up as the title sponsors. “It was a tough decision…we were evaluating sponsoring a pro team or the MCRTC and we decided the MCRTC would give us a lot more exposure for our brands.” stated Smithers. “We are honored to be working with Grumpy’s/LGR and Crossniacs, both world-class teams.”

The guidelines for the series are:
The top 3 racers per team per race are counted for the series. Teams must email the series administrator, hayes.tim@gmail.com, prior to September 7 to let us know to keep track of their team. Teams must also donate a nominal $10 fee to partake. The $10 fee will be donated to a local food shelf.

If you do not notify Super Rookie, then you will not be included in the competition will miss out on bragging rights for a whole year. The MCRTC will be presented at the Minnesota State Championship race.

The winning team will receive the MCRTC and the honor of keeping it at their shop sponsor until next season’s team is chosen – think Stanley Cup of Cyclocross.

Limited edition MCRTC apparel will be available for sale at the cross races.

    wouldn’t the official name be;

    The TIME SPORT USA Minnesota Cyclocross Cup,
    presented by Smithersmpls.com

    so, teams have to sign up to be a part of this?

    and only your teams 3 best placings in each race count towards the team score?

    sweet.

    registering my team sounds like alot of work though… there better be a bigass throphy on the line to make this worthwhile…

    (dis), you are correct about the official name.

    To answer your questions:

    1) Yes, teams need to sign up to be a part of this. They need to do so by September 7th.

    2) Yep, the 3 best placings per race(category) at each cyclocross event will be counted towards a team’s score.

    3) Actually, it isn’t all that much work at all! Teams only need to send an email to me (address listed above) to have their team “registered” for the competition. That way, we know to keep track of their team over the course of the year. Finally, teams will be completely eligible when they send/give $10 to myself or Jared as we try to raise money for the local food shelf!

    Raise some money for a food shelf and get your team some recognition all at the same time. It couldn’t possibly be any easier than that.

    P.S. When you say big ass trophy…do you mean 5ft tall?

    This is the “big news” I was waiting for? Lame.

    1) That team isn’t possible since they aren’t all on Loon State.

    2) Even if it was possible you wouldn’t win with a team like that since only 3 scores in the 1/2 race are eligible and the lower categories won’t be scoring you points.

    3) Thanks for the check.

    wait.

    so, you’re saying that this comp won’t be nessasarily be won by the largest team since only the 3 best results count? no one can “flood” the standings?

    and, you’re saying it won’t be won by the best ‘A Race teams’, if they don’t also have some B,C,D category riders too?

    …so, if i understand you right:

    this compitition will highlight the teams that are the most well-rounded and balanced?

    and teams that are actively growing and supporting MN cyclocross by bring riders up through the ranks?

    also, for clairification;
    say for instance, skibby emails and says “here’s $10, please track LSC”, then all LSC riders would be tracked and scored in the series?
    …even the lame ones like andy frye?
    and if somehow LSC won, they would get a big ass throphy to keep at the Bicycle Chain for 12 months?

    is this a crazy dream? it sounds too amazing to be true!

    (dis)-

    You are absolutely correct on every one of those points. In fact, $10 for tracking of an entire club/team is so simple that it sounds craaaaaaaazy.

    I agree, Frye is lame. However, he is boycotting cross cause he doesn’t want to be beaten by Smithers and there is no 40 yo asthmatic epileptic category.
