Midwest Sprint Challenge - Hot Mike!

The Midwest Sprint Challenge at the NSC velodrome last weekend was plagued by rain and a light turnout but that didn’t keep the local speed demons from lighting things up. Official results are not available yet but Taylor Olson of Speedfix dominated the action, winning the match sprint event, the Keirin, and was a member of the winning team in the Team Sprint.  Lindsey Hamilton was impressive in the women’s competition and Gabe Masiulius and Steve Redelsberger went mano a mano in a grueling Cat 4/5 schedule.Omnipresent reporter Frye was on-scene to talk with the Gladiators.  Podcast run-down:

  • Elena (El-lay-na) blows off Frye, she was upset at Frye for either mispronouncing her name or getting beat by him in the match sprint heats - it was Frye’s biggest accomplishment of the year.
  • Francis “Vino” Hamre - Fast and doesn’t know why.
  • Sickboy, aka ”Bike Tosser” blows off Frye - there’s a pattern here.
  • Taylor Olson’s prediction in the Team Sprint
  • Taylor’s insightful breakdown of being slower
  • Dan Schueller contemplates how to convert slow-twitch to fast-twitch in 30 min.
  • Oops, Hot Mike! - Frye badgers The Bike Tosser for a interview again or a promo clip - yet still no love.  Franz brings it.

Did the Cyber Cop really throw his bike after a match sprint? I would certainly think that sponsors wouldn’t like to be blamed for a loss.

    It is really quite amazing.

The last 1min of this podcast is the funniest thing I have ever heard. Great work Frye. You earned your bikethrow.com paycheck this week.

The staff here at btdc continually strives for journalistic excellence because it is our desire to stay a notch ahead of the fake news.

With that said, when we get the facts wrong we will freely admit it and do what we can to set the record straight. In the interview clip you heard me reference that Mr. Kruse “threw” his bike after a match sprint event during the Midwest Sprint Challenge. To be clear, I was not referring to the typical bikethrow we feature on this site on a regular basis. In addition, Mr. Kruse did not throw his bike in disgust. In a follow-up interview with Mr. Kruse he clarified the facts of the incident.

After Mr. Kruse suffered a decisive and humiliating defeat at the hands of The Eternal Second and after he received a verbal warning for language from the officials and after he pulled his bike up to the rail in the backstretch, Mr. Kruse simply “set” his bike over the rail and “it fell over”.

Again, we hope this clarification and our sincerest apology sets the record straight and brings this matter to rest - on the Wrong Side of the Track. ;)
