Special Cyclocross Podcast: (dis)pencer and Super Rookie Make Judgements About Every Race On The MCF Calendar

(dis)pencer makes a return visit to the bikethrow.com studios to do a very special edition podcast for your listening enjoyment. The podcast is simple. Every race on the MCF calendar is discussed and judged by our fearless hosts. We discuss the entire racing calendar, a little bit of fat tire racing and the greatest moment in Minnesota Cyclocross history. If you want to know something about everything listen to the show!

Besides the podcast the following cyclocross news has crossed our desk:

1) The Orono course is changing to Lyons Park in the NW Metro.

2) The Moorehead Cross Race: This years race has been moved to downtown Moorhead along the red river spanning 3 city parks (ok they’re all really small and you can’t tell that you are spanning three city parks). This course is much more technical then our old course and is very spectator friendly including a restaurant/bar patio that over looks the course. Once again we will be offering one of the highest pay outs of the year, for race 1 (cat 1&2) we will pay 5 deep with a total purse of $350 ($150 for 1st), for race 2 we’ll pay 5 deep for the women and 5 deep for the men with a $150 purse to be split for each them men and women in that race. All the relevant race information can be seen out our club website located at www.gpcylcing.org

Cyclocross racing has its ups:

Cyclocross racing has its downs:

We all love this time of year!

This special edition podcast should not be confused with the upcoming 50th Bikethrow.com podcast in the next week or so.

How can you pass judgment regarding a race you have never participated in?

You don’t like the Hudson race because it goes by the wrong river?

I’m dumber for listening to this one.

Hey, at least I was going for that hole shot, gotta give a guy credit for trying no? When you can beat me, you can ridicule me, fair?

Wirth has classic roots, back to the retro days when it was our only race venue. My guess is you were about 6 years old when we raced out there. So, yes, it’s a return to our roots so we named it “classic”. Wood, show me some support here, you remember?!!!

Awesome podcast! It’s great to hear some truly insightful analysis and opinions about races you have never done. Well done!

The music in the middle was awesome. I suggest you crank it a little higher next time so it totally drowns out your voices.

Best btdc line ever!!!!! Rookie - “I like to think of myself as a Category 3 sprinter on the road”. Thinking it will not make it reality. What was the last sprint you were in?

this is a forum for disscussion (not just for making fun of frye, contrary to popular belief).

Frye is an idiot and so are you. At least Frye races.

Frye relates to the common amateur racer and provides insights and analysis from the prospective of a developing racer. He is awesome!

Rookie relates to the Cat 3 sprinters (snicker) and other out of touch pack fodder that officials like to pull from races.

Homme brings home the 5K walk insights and is the only one who has figured out that being with family is far more important than rubbing elbows with a bunch of irritable wannabes.

(dis) - if that’s his real name, gives us a window into the stinky messengers and the portion of the cycling community who’s bikes are worth more than their cars. (I really dig the Indonesian/tropical motif seat covers though)

    I love bikethrow!

It wasn’t just Hollywood that threw an expert level hissyfit at Northfield last year. Don’t forget about Charlie Townsend’s hissyfit that sent some officials away for the rest of the season.

I was there. I remember that one, particularly the f-en-heimers.

I love how people are critiquing our critiques because “we weren’t there.” That is so Republican of them.

To be clear, your race reviews of the races you have not done were actually your best.

I would get carpal tunnel syndrome from typing all the errors in this podcast so I will refrain and simply point out that the Roseville CX race will be using chip timing and it is now named the Green Acres CX. It’s the place I want to be.
