1991 Hopkins Criterium

I came across a couple of videos from the Hopkins Rasberry Festival Crit in 1991. Enjoy these two and let us know if you have a story from that year:

History of the Loon State Cyclists

2008 marks the 20th anniversary for the Loon State Cyclists Bicycle Racing Club. The team was formed by a couple young employees at BJ’s Bike and Ski in Brooklyn Park, MN. The founding members were Chris Smith, Mike Noer, and Al Lindberg.

Minnesota State Champions - Part I, Men’s Road Race

One of our goals at BTDC is to celebrate the rich history of Minnesota Cycling. We feel that a detailed archive is paramount to the foundation of any competitive cycling community. Therefore, we are implementing a “State Championships Archive.” The “Men’s State Road Champions” is the first part in this series.

The Flanders Archive - Part Two

Greg Lemond and Jim Flanders in 1980

In 1977, Chuck landed a new sponsor, Hoky Carpet Sweepers - the first real sponsor for the club. The sponsorship would help bring Dudley Hayton over from England and add another good rider, Jim Huff from Detroit to the Red Zinger Team.

Our History: The Chateau de Paree Time Trial Trophy

John Adelsman and The Chateau de Paree Time Trial Trophy

The Hotel Dyckman in 1956, wishing to give an aura of international flavor to its already famed cuisine, created the Chateau de Paree restaurant. To insure its success a search was made for a Chef and Maitre de of suitable distinction, ergo Ernest Baumann.

The Flanders Archive - Part One

MBRC (Minneapolis Bicycle Racing Club) has a rich tradition in MN bike racing. I was looking for a way to uncover part of this past when Jim Flanders handed me exactly what I was looking for, “History of the MBRC” which was written for a club newsletter a few years back. I have been given permission to publish it here.
