This weekend a bunch of Minnesotans, Wisconsinites, and other midwesterners broke from their usual apathy towards their neighbor, Iowa, and flocked there to mix it up with the corn state’s best Cyclocross racers.
Iowa City plays host to the midwest’s best cyclocross race, known as Jingle Cross, and pulls competitors from as far as California. This was the 5th edition of Jingle Cross and attendance grew from the previous years.
A brand new course at the fabled Bassett Creek Park location greeted over 200 riders today at the 2008 Minnesota State Cyclocross Championships just outside of Minneapolis. The weather was a big part of the story again with the frigid temps and brisk wind making for some raw conditions. Riders were greeted with another challenging and technical course for the Veldorome Cross race at the National Sports Center. The course balanced twisty and technical with some long power sections and was highlighted again by a drop into the famed Blaine velodrome.

Dewey Dickey of Flanders powered his way to another victory Saturday at the Ham Lake CX race. Dickey said before the race, “I don’t know why but I never do well here.” Did well he did. Dickey was part of an elite group that split from the rest of the field in the A race.
The second day of interviews and recordings from Madison is 20x better than the first day. Rookie is able to score all types of interviews with semi-famous bike racers including; Dewey Dickey, Todd Wells, Marko Lalonde, Steve Tilford, and the showdown with Paul Schoening.

Bjorn Selander lead things wire to wire on his way to an impressive victory in Hudson, Wisconsin on Sunday. Linda Sone helped complete the double earlier by taking the win in the women’s open field.

The 7th Annual Pork Chop Challenge in St. Cloud was won in dominating fashion by Duane Dickey (Flanders) and Jenna Zander (Specialized.com). This was Dickey’s second consecutive win at the race and Zander returned to the top step of the podium after taking last seasons race off.
